Cirque Kalabanté – World of Words

Kalabanté Productionswas founded by Guinean artist Yamoussa Bangoura to celebrate African arts through circus and dance. Inspired by performers he saw growing up in Conakry, Yamoussa trained in both European circus styles and West Africa’s Nyamakala tradition, touring with Circus Baobob before moving to Canada to perform with Cirque Éloize, Cirque du Soleil, and Cavalia. In 2007, he launched Kalabanté in Montreal with family members. Today, the company tours worldwide and runs a studio offering African dance, cirque, and drumming.
