Join us to explore the wild and wonderful world of incredible insects! In this interactive program for children and their families, we will learn about insect body parts and adaptations, how humans have used insects throughout history, and the important role insects play in our environment. Then we’ll head out with sweep nets and viewing containers to see what kinds of insects we can catch and identify at Red Bug Slough. This program is suitable for children ages 6 to 12 years old and their families. A parent or guardian is required to stay on-site to assist and supervise their child(ren) for the duration of the program. Participants should bring a water bottle and wear clothing appropriate for the weather. We recommend sun protection, bug spray, and closed-toe shoes, no flip-flops. Restrooms and a water fountain are available on site. This program is provided in partnership with the Sarasota County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources Department. Your gift of $5 or more per person will help Big Waters Land Trust save wild places and continue to engage people in nature. We greatly appreciate your support!
