Myakka Headwaters Preserve Volunteer Tag-Along Day

Join the Big Waters Land Trust stewardship team for a day in the field! Let’s splash through the pop ash! We are planning to focus on cutting and treating old world climbing fern in the hammocks and floodplain forests. Depending on how high the river is, we may also do other land management activities like fence repair, invasive plant removal, trailwork, etc. Tag-Along Days are a great opportunity to ask more questions, see more places, and do more things, as compared to a traditional volunteer event. This is a lowkey, bring-your-own-lunch event, limited to the first four sign ups. Transportation/carpooling from Osprey is available. About Tag Along Days : Volunteers should dress for outdoor work and are required to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. They should bring water and personal supplies for themselves. Typically, only primitive bathrooms are available (the woods). Big Waters staff will join you for all work, to provide instruction and support. Staff will supply all necessary tools, including gloves. Please note that Tag Along Days last longer than Volunteer and Picnic events, and may be more strenuous. Questions? Email landprotection@bwlt.org .
