Prescribed Fire in Florida Presentation

Join Sarah Denison Williams, Community Education Manager with Big Waters Land Trust, for an insightful presentation on the critical role of prescribed fire in Florida. Participants will gain an understanding of how fire has shaped the landscape of Florida for thousands of years and continues to be an essential tool for land managers today. We will discuss how prescribed fire helps maintain healthy habitats, supports biodiversity, and reduces the risk of catastrophic wildfires. We will also highlight the importance of protecting Florida’s natural areas for the well-being of wildlife and the people who depend on these special places for recreation, water quality, and resilience. Participants will gain a deeper appreciation of fire’s role in sustaining the ecological balance in Florida and the ongoing efforts to preserve our unique natural heritage. This program is recommended for teens and adults. This is a lecture-style program that may not be suitable for small children. Your gift of $5 or more per person will help Big Waters Land Trust save wild places and continue to engage people in nature. We greatly appreciate your support!
