Summon the Heroes

Sarasota Orchestrapartners with the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall to presentSummon the Heroes, a concert of heartfelt music commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11. Led by conductor Evan Roider, this concert invites the community to come together to honor the enduring resilience of the American spirit. The program features iconic music of remembrance and reflection, such as Copland'sFanfare for the Common Man, Barber's poignantAdagio for Strings, and John Williams'Summon the Heroes.Liberty for All, with narration by Nate Jacobs, founder and artistic director of the West Coast Black Theatre Troupe, will also be featured. Soprano Amy Owens melds a "fresh and electrifying" voice (Omaha World-Herald) with Sarasota Orchestra's sound in stirring performances of “Amazing Grace” and “America the Beautiful.”Proceeds from this special evening will benefit four local charities: Resilient Retreat, Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Charitable Foundation, Sarasota Firefighters Benevolent Fund, and Sarasota Police Foundation.Join neighbors, friends, and music lovers for an inspiring evening of music affirming that our community is always stronger, more connected, and more resilient when we stand together.
